Ujima First Base
Ujima Housing Association handed over the launch of Ujima First Base business enterprise centre to The Creative Collective after switching agencies. We project managed the launch from liaising with the HM Treasury Office as Paul Boateng, then Chief Secretary to the Treasury, was the keynote speaker, to securing last minute contributors including Kwame Kwei-Armah, the award-winning playwright of Elmina’s Kitchen.

A PR campaign was organised to ensure coverage in the housing, BME, local and national media. We devised the launch programme, Media and PR pack, arranged the catering and managed the guest list. The logistical, technical and security considerations were significant as the launch was outside the enterprise centre in a large marquee, followed by the unveiling of a plaque, a tour of the building and a buffet reception.

The media campaign was bolstered by the news that the centre won the Federation of Black Housing Organisations ‘most innovative BME Regeneration Project’ award. Pictures by Ken Passley.

Clockwise: Henry Bonsu (broadcaster), Sheron Carter (creator of the Enterprise Centre), Kwame Kwei-Armah (award-winning playwright), Rt Hon Paul Boateng and Ujima team.

EVENT PLANNING

Does this sound familiar?

From awards ceremonies to press launches, conferences to seminars, even when held in prestigious venues with tremendous speakers, events can fall short of expectations. The running order is too ambitious, the target audience is missed, the venue is unsuitable or overpriced or the speakers are the same gender, uninspiring or inappropriate. Many of these shortfalls can be foreseen and with the right advice, contacts and forward planning, we can transform your event from missing the mark to being an influential and memorable occasion.

So where do we come in?

We facilitate you to manage your event in a cost effective and empowering way – from a vague idea to the point of delivery.

We have planned and assisted with topical events and conferences in the arts, publishing, voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors as well as acted as conference chairs and speakers, both here and abroad.

What makes us unique is our combined experience of 40 years as journalists, PR knowledge and extensive media contacts. This means we can help you not only plan your event but develop a PR and media strategy to attract the publicity you deserve, write post conference reports and cultivate relationships with useful journalists for future success.
